The Grand Prix went to online delivery app DoorDash, which promised to deliver a product from every Super Bowl ad to one lucky viewer. “The idea is simple on the surface, yet daring in execution,” said Jury President Debbi Vandeven, Global Chief Creative Officer at VML. “At its core, it’s a spectacular product demonstration at a scale we’ve never seen before.”

The Move to -15 | DP World | Edelman, London

Emirati logistics company DP World challenged the industry practice of shipping frozen food at –18°C by proposing a temperature change of three degrees. Sixty per cent of the world’s shipping has adopted the switch, which could save more than 17.7m tonnes of carbon each year. Vandeven said: “By successfully challenging a business standard that had been best practice for a century, this work transformed not just DP World's operations, but a whole industry.”

Meet Marina Prieto | JCDecaux | DAVID Madrid

To prove the power of out-of-home, media company JCDecaux used unbooked media spaces to transport a Galician grandma to stardom. “This work drew attention to the very thing it was selling,” said Vandeven. “The humanity came from images of a 100-year-old woman’s daily life, but delivered in such an intriguing way that it connected with people, aroused curiosity and took off in social media.”

The Everyday Tactician | Xbox | McCann London

Xbox rewrote the rules of recruitment by hiring a gamer to take Bromley FC to victory. “This uncovered an inventive way of recruiting talent and a new data-led approach to the sport, all while entertaining,” said Vandeven. “It had a fundamental impact on the business – in both the game, with increased play, and the real world by helping Bromley FC achieve their best result in 132 years.”
