Execution

The unique challenge for the cinematography of “A Lockdown Love Story” was how can you create an intimate closeness between two people far apart?

We accomplished this by capturing scenes in a way that was authentic to how people communicated during lockdown: using actual phones to film the intimate moments of the protagonists falling in love. This created a raw quality that makes it feel like the scenes are really happening.

Overall, the film’s cinematography has a lush and colorful feel, capturing the way that falling in love overwhelms our senses and makes even dreary moments like lockdown feel special.

But we weren’t just telling a straightforward love story. We used these visual tropes to set up expectations that get flipped on their head at the end of the film. Because not even this beautiful love story can compete with going out again.
