Let everyone become a billionaire!
We added a module to the home page of the Alipay app, which added a 100 million RMB promotional budget to every Alipay user’s account.
Execution
In August 2016, Alipay performed a nationwide random discount activity, added a balance module to the APP home page for screen capturing, so that users could flaunt wealth by uploading pictures to social networks; meanwhile, real-time display of carving 100 million, prompting users to conduct offline transactions.
Outcome
· Nearly 200 million views on Weibo
· Usage frequency rose dramatically by 33%
· Quickly became a trending topic
· 100+mainstream press outlets reported the event
· Into a huge entertainment phenomenon that allowed Chinese consumers to flaunt their wealth
