OVERVIEW

Description

Web ads in Japan, especially banner ads, are more or less all the same. They are full of either shortened versions of a TVC, or some one-way communication that thrusts out information. Hardly any are enjoyable pieces that make people forget they’re watching an ad.

Execution

Controlling a flying Drone quadricopter with your smartphone is completely unconventional and hard to really believe or imagine. Our idea was to simply give people the same experience by allowing them to control the website on their PC with their smartphone in the exact same way as the product. With some sophisticated technology in the background this was done through a standard banner ad.

A simple use of digital media space in a new interactive way.

Outcome

As a result, CTR increased 500% that of common assumptions. Visit duration to the banner was recorded at an average of an impressive 30 seconds. We succeeded in communicating the appeal of AR.Drone by having many consumers experience it virtually.
