It is late evening in the office. It's very hot - the air-conditioning has been shut off for many hours. Tom, a senior officer who likes to think of himself as someone cool, and Jane, a pretty girl just starting her career, are working overtime. Jane excuses herself to go boil some congee to eat. Once he's alone, Tom takes advantage of her absence to cool off - by removing his toupee and fanning his bald head - a secret he's keeping from Jane. But Jane surprises him by returning in just a few seconds with her boiled congee. Tom is shocked and embarrassed, desperately trying to still look cool.
