Description
In South Africa, Youth Day commemorates the Soweto Uprising of the 16th of June, 1976. But it is also celebrates a new generation that enjoys political freedom, and freedom of language and expression. A Praise Poem is the traditional way of heralding an African leader, but this poem salutes the intellectual independence and individual voices of young South Africans. The poem is a combination of English and some Zulu: "Ngikuluma ngezingani zi - Afrika" means "I speak of the young voices of Africa" "Mzansi" means South Africa "S'camto" is South African street lingo
