OVERVIEW

Description

Ryman Eco is a free typeface that uses 33% less ink. Ryman, the UK’s leading stationer, launched the font as they wanted to allow people to do something good for the environment without having to make compromises. At the launch, the font was hugely successful with consumers, however we needed to persuade the design community it is a viable design tool as well.

So we invited 26 typographers, designers, illustrators and art directors to create an artwork featuring a single character from the Ryman Eco font alphabet. The brief was two words long: ‘beautifully sustainable’. A unique alphabet, by designers for designers. Each poster celebrates the beauty of Ryman Eco and at the same time reminds us of the environmental benefits of the font. Stress testing the font and demonstrating its versatility and elegance. The posters were temporarily exhibited in a forest, in Ryman stationery stores and permanently online, and since launch has been featured in over 100 design blogs and is now at 64,000 downloads.
