It was done through a very innovative way. We first introduced automatically a comment on all TMN posts with a link to claim the post. Then, through a facebook app, people could claim the post, post it on their timelines whilst becoming fans of the MEO page. At the same time, the posts were removed from the TMN page, leaving it a blank page.
A very simple, never done and innovative way of closing a facebook brand page.
Outcome
In juts 5 days, all the 4,367 posts of TMN were claimed and distributed by the fans, generating a big social word-of-mouth with posts on all the fans pages.
More importantly, MEO became number one facebook brand page in Portugal, with more than 1.1 million fans, + 300 thousand!
