Execution

The sport of soccer connects Africa, as does the game of Foosball, which can be found everywhere in Africa, from bars to beaches.

We showed the effects of landmines on this very African pastime and used it's playability to harvest funds for our client The International Campaign to Ban Landmines. The execution was pretty graphic. Most of the Foosball players had one or both legs missing making the game very difficult to play. This simple device engaged players to really get to grips with the problems associated with landmines in their neighbouring countries.

Outcome

The games cost very little to build, yet had major impact around the country. They were covered widely in the media and raised significant awareness of the destruction landmines cause. It also helped ICBL to lobby the South African government to join the ban on landmines and cluster bombs.
