OVERVIEW

Background

- To assume a lidership in a ESG attittude between the 6 majors Brazilian Banks.

- launch a powerful tool to raise awareness among its thousands of customers to adopt an attitude of less environmental impact in their daily lives.

- Objectives:

For the first time, a bank created a Carbon Statement that transformed bank with 25 million customers into a powerful tool for raising awareness on climate change. The Carbon Statement became a way to "offset" the carbon credit of each purchase made by the C6 bank customer. In the same APP, instantly.

Idea

The creative and original idea was the simplest. A bank account statement is where we see what we spent from our own resources. If every thing we buy impacts the environment, bank account statements would also be the best place to see how we spend nature's resources. And based on this knowledge, seek a change in personal attitude and better awareness about climate change.

The innovation was to put a calculator, with Tolkenization of the carbon footprint calculation, with the possibility of compensation, technology that was previously used on large scales, in the consumer's hands and available in just one click on the same bank app.

Strategy

With the Carbon Statement, C6 Bank managed, for the first time, to combine 4 major technological achievements in a single current account: 1 - the tolkenization of a ton of carbon. Before that, only large companies were able to make this compensation.

2- The categorization of the value in reais in carbon impact, varying according to the segment;

3- the possibility of instant offsetting of carbon consumption and all of this on a daily current account statement in just one click.

4- Everything happens in real time. For more than six months, we worked in a multidisciplinary way, integrating the core banking solution from the company Thought Machine and the carbon footprint calculator with technology from the startup Deep into the application. The methodology for calculating the carbon footprint of transactions .

Execution

For more than six months, C6 Bank worked in a multidisciplinary way, integrating the core banking solution from the company Thought Machine and the carbon footprint calculator with technology from the startup Deep into the application. The methodology for calculating the carbon footprint of transactions is based on the company's activity (Merchant Category Code - for card transactions and National Classification of Economic Activities - for direct transfers). The carbon credit offered to customers is made available by Biofílica (a company specialized in projects that promote the reduction of emissions through forest conservation), through Ambify's technological solution (API for offsetting the carbon footprint via certified credits), both companies in the AMBIPAR group.

- The Scale was for all 25 millions clients and made the technology available to all financial companies in the country.

Outcome

For the first time, a bank created a Carbon Statement that transformed bank with 25 million customers into a powerful tool for raising awareness on climate change.
