Description

We created the “Censored Outdoor”; a billboard installation with motion-detecting cameras and a custom software that censored the view of the street to draw attention to the ongoing media censorship in Turkey.    

Execution

On May 1st, placed around recognized demonstration locations, the Censored Outdoor's motion detectors identified the movement on the street and projected a pixellated view of the real-time stream that its software edited from the back camera's live feed. So those who passed the billboard saw the edited and real images in real time. We exposed censorship by openly censoring a view of the public.
