We plastered the country with a series of very strange looking billboards and posters full of slimy, squidgy creatures that invited onlookers to satisfy their strange.
Q.R. Codes were embedded on the creatures. When you scanned the codes, they triggered a series of even stranger AR experiences in Instagram’s camera function.
From iridescent worms sprouting udders that squirted tea and boba, to a dancing centaur with human baby legs, the campaign showed that strange can be strangely satisfying.
An intentionally lo-fi ‘strange’ design surrounded the creatures, from dodgy kerning to in-your-face colour and texture choices. This was used to set the work apart from the slick ads people are used to seeing in these environments.
When the ads were scanned, the characters burst to life as 3D A.R.animations in the Instagram camera function making them easy to share.
