The beer temperature is an important matter for beer lovers. It’s almost as important as the beer quality. But trying to get the perfect ice-cold beer is not easy. It demands time, effort and in many cases people end up getting a frozen beer. The Chill-o-Meter is a new device that captures the beer temperature and communicates with the user’s smartphone through an app. It took two years of researches and tests.

And it has a high sensitivity thermometer, Bluetooth technology, an accelerometer and a small battery (rechargeable via USB). To turn on the device, the user simply has to shake it. A RGB led will indicate when the device is on (Blue light) or when it needs to be recharged (Orange/Red light). The product design was thought based on the nickname of the brand: “BOA”, with the brand logo as the “O”. “Boa” is a Portuguese word that usually means “the best beer”, but also “the coldest beer”. The Chill-o-Meter allows Antarctica’s fans to relax after putting their beer cans into the refrigerator. It means the end of warm beer or frozen beer to those fans. And we guaranteed Antarctica to be always “Boa” cause it’s always ice cold.

Outcome

As the app depends on the device to work, some lucky Antarctica fans had the chance to have this innovation on hand. The brand is now studying how to amplify the number of fans that will get a Chill-o-Meter device and enjoy always an ice-cold Antarctica. This app is available for Android users at Google Play and it will be soon available for iOS users. The device got attention of beer lovers, creating desire even amongst fans of different beers. It has raised the bar in beer brands promotion in Brazil. And it’s helping Antarctica to keep the brand’s image young and modern. There are even fans asking Antarctica to sell the device. But the brand is not sure about commercial use in the near future. Although this response from the target shows the Chill-o-Meter may become a new business opportunity to the client. Now, the main goal of the brand is to keep this technology as an exclusive property, and make it available to more fans throughout an online promotion.
