Description

Sometime, well before Christmas, someone drops a new decoration into the Christmas decorations box in a storage room. Inside the box, the new arrival, a luminescent snowman, finds himself surrounded by other Christmas characters/decorations. The snowman can’t wait to tell these old veterans the news: they’re going to get something fabulous for Christmas. Blase at first, gradually each character is won over by something personally interesting for him/her. At the end everyone in the box is so enthusiastic at the prospect of this amazing gift they decide they can’t wait. Christmas can’t come fast enough, so they decide to leave the box and decorate the living room as if it were Christmas in an attempt to fool the human family into believing it’s the 25th of December. The decorations want the family to open their Christmas present right away. Does it work?...

Execution

We achieved 115 seconds ( a little less than 2 minutes) of CGI within 2 months and a half with an animation team of less than 15 persons.

The idea was to make the animation the most realistic on the characters. Close to what they really look like, texture, movement. Also, the team had to create several characters from scratch, the others have been created last year for the previous campaign.

Half shot out of the box, half in the darkness. Last minute changes such as changing a character while rendering and along with the additional contents to provide which were not initially planned (facebook, mobile devices, print…). A real performance for such a precise animation and render.
