Description
In October, 2013, Kadokawa, the Japanese publishing and film company recently bought 9 companies that specialize in areas such as books and animation. It was crucial for the company not only to spread the news throughout Japan, but also to appeal to the public that it extended its boundaries into realms beyond publishing and movies.
Execution
We gathered a variety of Kadokawa content and created seven large pieces of artwork. A robotic arm verified lighting angles and positioning of the artwork. As viewers follow the shadows created by the light in specific places, a story of a young boy growing up unfolds. This story expresses the richness that Kadokawa brings to our lives. The movement, lighting, and filming of the artwork depended on very specific timing, so verification was conducted repeatedly.
