Background
Situation - Hepatitis C has been growing in the Brazilian population and worldwide. This happens due to the lack of testing and treatment, even though they are free in Brazil. Hepatitis C is a silent disease that, if not treated in time, can lead to liver cirrhosis and liver cancer.
Brief - Establish a controlled area of action to test and treat hepatitis C in its entire population. The repercussion and notoriety of the action will give strength to the eradication of hepatitis C through other similar projects.
Objectives - Remove this area entirely from the hepatitis C map, zeroing its existence, testing and treating all its inhabitants, in order to create a system capable of being reproduced in other areas of Brazil.
Idea
We erase Ihabela / SP - Brazil - from the World Map of hepatitis C in realtime. With each computed test, a piece of the island's image disappeared on the action's landing page. As 100% of the population is under test, the island has disappeared completely.
Strategy
Data gathering - The nurse who applies the test and treatment, touches the logged-in landing page area, computing Data.
Data interpretation - In realtime, the system identifies that a test has been done, transferring the information to the screen that shows the area decreasing towards 0%.
Targeting - All inhabitants of Ilhabela / SP- Brazil.
Execution
Implementation - A communication was made in Ilhabela about the action. The first phase invited the population to go to the health posts in the city. The city's nurses and health posts were divided into 5 regions. The inhabitants who did not attend health posts after the call was visited in their homes by the project teams.
Timeline - april 2021-2022
Placement - Desapeared island. The first island to disappear from the hepatitis C map. Website: www.hepatitezero.com
Scale - 100% of the population of Ilhabela tested and positive in treatment.
Outcome
Business impact - As the news that Ilhabela disappeared from the map spread, more traffic increased on the site and the desire of other areas of the state and the country to repeat the action.
Response rate - By the end of the project, 100% of Ilhabela will be tested and under treatment.
Change in behaviour - The entire population of the island will be free from hepatitis C. They mobilized themselves for the action by going to the health centers or receiving the nursing staff at their homes.
Consumer awareness - The population of Ilhabela started to have prevention, regular testing and treatment against Hepatitis C in their culture. More than that, they know that Hepatitis can be cured.
