Description

Post-Apartheid South Africa has become a melting pot of varying cultures, ethnicities and nationalities. SA’s prosperity has led to the constant migration of foreign populations from all over the world as well as the rest of Africa.

Despite the country’s populace all sharing a common immigrant past, waves of Xenophobia have rippled through the country.

However, one fact remains. Before any other human sect set foot on SA soil their lived the original inhabitants of the land – the Khoisan.

The concept behind Nando’s Diversity was born to highlight a simple truth and remind the nation that SA’s strength lies in its deep cultural variety and multiplicity.

Nando’s too has variety on its menu and as SA’s number one socially conscious advertiser they decided to highlight the facts of, the subject of Diversity.

The TV commercial launched the campaign and set the carefully constructed tone, which would communicate a complex ideal with a blend of humor and entertainment. Not afraid of controversy, the Nando's client was highly aware of the subject’s sensitivity. All efforts were concentrated on how best to package the satire. Real SA’s love Diversity. Heads came out of the sand, the country responded with appreciation and sales.
