Description
Akita Prefecture was the stage for this TV commercial. Sonoko Inoue went to a high school graduation there to perform a surprise live rendition of the song "Donna Toki Mo," which was made popular in a commercial, and then this plan was turned into a music video. Preparations were kept completely secret from the students.
Execution
The song began broadcasted as a TV commercial theme song in February, and we started digital online sales on February 22nd once the song caught on. We then filmed the surprise live performance music video at a high school graduation. The CD was released on April 12th.
Outcome
The song was played more than 15 million times on YouTube as a theme song of a TV commercial for a smartphone, and 310,000 times as an independent music video. It reached No. 1 on LINEmusic, which is mostly used by teens, our main target. It has reached 1.4 million in combined subscriptions. In addition, the artist's CD, which was her first release, sold 11,000 copies making it Oricon's Top 10.
