OVERVIEW

Description

Fastweb is the Italian internet provider with the fastest broadband line.

Playing on this competitive advantage, Fastweb’s strategic positioning has always been focused on download/upload/web surfing speed.

The goal was generating visibility and engaging Italian social media users/influencers around Fastweb’s superior speed/technology/performance.

The insight is based on a simple question: what's the use of the internet? It brings the world to us, wherever we are.

Then, a superior broadband allows us to do it faster, it enhances this power, by letting us download, send and share any kind of file, even the heaviest ones.

That’s a fact and that’s what Fastweb does but, from a client’s perspective, the real difference among broadband players sometimes is hard to see in the everyday usage.

To this end, we wanted to provide people with a tangible proof of what a “fast - web” can do and, in order to be visible and oppose competitors’ massive traditional media coverage, we made it loud and unexpected by creating an instant campaign able to ride the web topic of the moment.

Unimaginable news from Brazil World Cup just gave us the right PR opportunity…

Execution

An instant ambient campaign. Fast just as Fastweb:

July 9th, 2014: A faithful reproduction of the statue - 20 meters tall and 20 tons weight - appears in Naples with the tag “Downloaded with #Fastweb” along with a carousel-style carioca and television crews, musicians and capoeira. ?An event mirrored on web in real time (with photos, videos, info graphics) and designed to be shared, where the “#fastweb" turned the installation into a media. Viral spinoffs, Facebook pages Twitter profiles amplified the social spread.

Outcome

An instant ambient campaign. Fast just as Fastweb:

An event that belonged to people, just like the internet, that gave people a taste of what a superior broadband can do: it brings the world to you, and it does it simply faster.
