Description

It's a brand new, and much longer, day for our friend the egg. Now that Subway offers egg sandwiches all day long, our little ovum no longer need bid adieu after breakfast. The world is his oyster and the day is his to be seized. While his list of to-dos before he kicks the skillet is long, nothing makes him happier than chilling with his freshest friends on a flatbread futon. Words alone cannot convey his elation, so he resorts to the tried and true methods of Snow White, Maria, and Elder Price: the big musical number.

Execution

No actual eggs were harmed in the making of this short film. From rough animation to the final cleaning, the whole piece was animated in Flash. Even though it was digitally animated, the process was fairly close to traditional animation. Each frame was drawn directly into a computer using a Cintiq monitor and photographed with a camera. Once animated, the piece was composited in After Effects, which was used for lighting, simple camera moves and color correction. The film was then edited in Final Cut Pro. This production was really great with no major disasters. The script and song are so wonderful that designing characters, storyboarding and animation were a pleasure!
