Execution

The BC Hydro Power Smart New Home Program encourages the adoption of energy efficient technologies by working with property developers to communicate the benefits of being Power Smart to prospective homebuyers. The task was to develop POS materials that supported the developer’s sales efforts, showing that having energy efficient windows and appliances in a new home is not only beneficial, but Power Smart. In particular, the requirement was to effectively show the benefit of a reduced environmental footprint acquired through these homes.

Karacters found a clever and interesting way for prospective homebuyers to take notice of the Power Smart New Home initiative by using everyday objects in and around the home to communicate the value and benefits of using energy-efficient windows and appliances. Using graphic-driven headlines and engaging, witty copy, ordinary objects like a milk carton, laundry detergent, bath towels and light bulb boxes communicated the importance of reducing environmental impact on the world with a non-preachy, friendly manner.
