It was hard for football fans to do anything in Singapore where strict laws abound. No post-match street parties allowed. No form of streaking whatsoever. Worst of all, one can’t play soccer almost anywhere. But the truth about a soccer fan is the fact that he would never stop showing his loyalty for his club, even after a match is over. ESPN knew the way to build affinity was to give hardcore fans an avenue to show their support outside a 90-minute game.
Outcome
ESPN Football Clock was one of the most talked about topic online. Fans came out in full force and the rivalry between the clubs hit fever pitch. In less than a month, ESPN Football Clock got over 1.2m votes from fans. But the best result was giving football fans in Singapore an avenue to show their support 24/7.
