Instead of frightening people to stop global warming, we were thinking of a more likable way to show them the importance of stopping the behaviour that leads to it. Because what happens if we don’t? The world will melt in our hands. So, with the aid of an ice sculptress, we created a very special ice cream lollipop: our planet made entirely of ice cream. The stick showed the demand to ‘stop global warming’ and a link to the Ministry for the Environment to access further information. These lollipops were distributed to concertgoers in the largest venue center in Hamburg.
Outcome
This promotion came to be an outstanding way to motivate people to think about global warming. Through that positive surprise to get an ice cream that looks like our planet, people were more frank with our promoter to discuss the issue. Also, clicks on the linked website increased. Nearly 500 people asked for handouts to get further information – after just one weekend of promotion. And not a single concert-goer let the ice cream melt – maybe that was another first step.
