Data gathered across the USA confirm that all over the country there is a significant pay gap between genders: women consistently receive smaller payment than men for performing the same job. AAUW (American Association of University Women) is committed to empowering women as individuals and as a community since 1881.

The target is the whole community in terms of creating awareness, but more so employers who perform this unfair practice – in some cases without even thinking they do. The approach was to make people uncomfortable so that they pay attention to the issue.

This last April 12 – official EQUAL PAY DAY – AAUW performed an activation, distributing a realistic looking “one dollar” bill with a $0.79 face value.
