Description
Baileys Chocolat Luxe is an alchemy of chocolate and Baileys Irish Cream. ‘Forming’ lionises the liquid under the banner thought ‘Real Belgian chocolate awoken by the spirit of Baileys’.
The director creates a sensory journey – though the images are beautifully abstracted, the rhythm, choreography and climactic build are somehow familiar to all women.
We see the blending of the two elements, fleetingly taking the female form, as deep clouds of Baileys burst through the rich chocolate darkness. As the fusion is complete, the bottle emerges and we see a chiselled chunk of chocolate – an island in calm Baileys waters.
Execution
For the opening shots, the CG animation had to blend seamlessly with real chocolate elements, blending hand animated streams of cream liquid, which subtly transition into full CG shots of the body made entirely of chocolate and cream. A mixture of live action elements of silk, and cloud tank elements had to be composited together with close ups of CG animated torsos and hands. The aim always was to keep the movement elegant and smooth while building the pace throughout the film. Many of the shots started out as CG liquid simulations, but in order to control the look in more detail the final CGI was animated with keyframes in almost every shot. The exception to this would be the bottle shot near the end that had dynamic smoke and particles driven by the animation of the bottle.
