Execution

Using an express delivery firm, we sent out 100 cured hams to 100 different addressees and recorded the 100 deliveries with hidden cameras, since the recipients were unaware that they were taking part in an experiment.

The 'victims' were delighted at the arrival of a completely free ham. The dilemma arose when it came to signing for it. Just at that moment they would discover that the delivery was not exactly addressed to them, in other words, that succulent, free ham was not actually for them.

Just to what lengths would they go, how much would they be willing to lie, to keep the ham?

Outcome

THE RESULTS

99% of the respondents tricked us in order to keep their ham.

The other 1% was this lady. She’s a vegetarian.

Q.E.D. NOBODY SAYS NO TO A GOOD HAM.
