Amidst COVID-19, McDonald's wanted to do something good for the community as well as increase its top-of-mind among families. The national lockdown moved most of the cooking and eating into people’s homes. We wanted to give the families something fun to do together after enjoying food without the stress of preparing it. Tapping onto Finn’s love of nature and the Finnish tradition of DIY nest boxes, we came up with a never-before-seen outdoor ad: Happy Meal Bird Box, a nest box that looks like a Happy Meal box. It gave the perfect opportunity for families to do things together while also helping some of the nature’s smallest creatures to survive harsh times. This goodwill project turned into over 1,400 wooden outdoor ads across Finland that will help the local wildlife nest in peace for years to come.
