Marathon Sports is the only sports retail store that sells Emelec official shirts and they asked to develop a campaign that would drive the jersey’s sales.
We knew that for a regular fan, their team’s stadium is their second home. But Emelec fans love their team so much that they consider the stadium as their first. For this reason we decided to award the fans with the opportunity of actually living in their team’s stadium.
We built a house inside the stadium and let every fan participate to live in it for a day. They only had to buy the official jersey and wait to live in their new home.
Our sales went up 14 and Emelec fans proved once again how much they love their team, their shirt and their stadium.
Execution
We decided to reward one Emelec fan with a house inside the stadium.
For 3 weeks whoever purchased an Emelec shirt had the chance to stay in the house for a game and one night. The house had and adjustable leather sofa, a bar and balcony with the greatest view: their team’s field.
The winner experienced what it was like to truly turn the stadium into his first home while watching his team win a match with a full stadium.
Outcome
The action drew media attention and was heavily shared on social media.
But most importantly, Marathon sales of Emelec shirts went up 14%
