OVERVIEW

Description

We hooked up with the Grammy nominated music producer Riton to create a daring remix that takes the house party to another level. With household objects and a little electronic wizardry, we created ‘House Party Plugged’. In a collaboration between musicians, technologists including experimental drummer Dario Rossi, a team of diverse experts and Riton himself, we rigged an entire house. The pots, pans, taps, light fittings, hob, bannisters and the stairs were synthesised into instruments to become the bass line, the beat and the vocals of the hit track “Rinse and Repeat”. Resulting in an experimental and unique live music performance.

Execution

We shot the film at a house party set-up in London in February 2016, and from this produced a suite of assets for Desperados markets which were launched online in April 2016. This included a main film ‘Houseparty Plugged’ showing the DIY instruments being played along to Riton’s ‘Rinse and Repeat’. We also created 8 short behind the scenes films that highlighted each of the bespoke instruments, and interviews with the experimental musicians. These were uploaded by the markets and global channels across Facebook, YouTube, VEVO, Spotify and Instagram.

Outcome

This debut from Inner Tequila Studios launched across 7 global markets harnessing a total of 9.8m global video views. The ‘Rinse and Repeat’ soundtrack went to number 1 all over the world, and even saw Riton Grammy nominated for Best Dance Recording. The artist himself, tweeted about the campaign organically which got over 40k likes.
