Background

To celebrate 2 million cars in Australia, Hyundai briefed us to showcase the history of the Hyundai car in Australia. Hyundai and Innocean struggled to find the footage to create the fast Match cut of Hyundais from the 1987 to present .Without 2 million dollars...or a time machine, they came to us to create a sequence in post using Ai created images and help people win one of their very own.

Generating excitement through a captivating portrayal of Hyundai’s rich history, the agency’s objective was to illustrate the remarkable journey of the car brand. The task involved embarking on a nostalgic drive down memory lane to meticulously revisit the diverse range of models released over the years.

Facing a tight three-to-four-week deadline, Innocean sought a visually compelling and effective creative solution to swiftly deliver results. Enter AI, stepping in to meet the challenge.

Execution

We employed AI-based image generation tools like Mid-journey and Dall-e to efficiently produce diverse car models from scratch, spanning decades. Girault highlights the challenge of generating hundreds of realistic images, emphasising that AI tools, while impressive, require careful curation and additional composition. With over 4,000 images rendered, only around 400 were selected, each requiring meticulous retouching & new Badges, License plates for each car. Navigating uncharted territory in a true trial-and-error fashion.
