OVERVIEW

Description

Her debut song was called I Cut My Bangs Too Short which is her trademark. To appeal her unique presence, we expressed her bang and Natsume herself as the whole package.

Execution

We used a band strip (paper looped around a CD generally used in Japan) as her bang, the booklet as her hair, and the disc as her face. The picture of the hair is made with real photos of her. Even the lyrics in the booklet were written vertically just like her bangs.

Outcome

The song became a smash hit. The unique CD package and Natsume’s bang which was actually too short caught huge attention. This produced the new word OMOSHIRO-KAWAII which means stupid and Kawaii, not just Kawaii and she got famous rapidly as The Bang Girl. The music videos played more than 4.2 million times in total. Her Instagram follower increased 2 times (100K to 200K). ranked in 3rd place in terms of rate of climb in awareness in 2015. A lot of girls even showed up mimicking her bang in their hairstyle in Harajuku and Osaka, and several TV programs told this as a social phenomenon.
