OVERVIEW

Background

Situation: Mental Health is not given priority in the Philippines, as it still is one of the few countries left without laws protecting the mentally ill. Mental illness is considered taboo — a topic that Filipinos refuse to talk about openly, in fear of discrimination.

Brief: Help pass the Mental Health Act to Philippine legislation by means of a sign-up petition.

Objectives:

1.Spark a conversation about the mental health problem in the country

2.Collect signatures for the sign-up petition

Execution

We caught the attention of Filipinos by using a series of web videos of personalities admitting to their mental health problems. On the same day the videos were launched, the different local personalities took to their Twitter accounts and admitted to their own mental health problem with the hashtag #MHACTNOW and the link to the campaign website, MHACTNOW.ORG which also serves as a sign-up petition for the first ever mental health act.
