Background
India is a billion-strong nation where the majority of people, bound by limited resources and finances, are unleashing their ideas for the betterment of society and themselves, in ways both big and small. And in doing this, they are also inspiring the people around them.
The film is based on a simple truth: Inspiration can come from anywhere, and take you everywhere. The commercial highlights real stories from all parts of India, of people who have done truly exceptional things with the help of technology, and genuinely inspired other Indians to do the same. Popular Bollywood actor, director and singer Farhan Akhtar has lent his voice for the film’s narrative.
Execution
The film takes us on a journey of India in first person view, while a narrator introduces multiple inspiring Indians to us along the way.
We first meet a lady who teaches women how to use the internet. We then meet one of her students, who pioneered lemongrass farming in her village, thanks to the know-how she acquired online. We move on to meet a handicrafts businessman who is expanding his market globally, a young male student who uses free wi-fi at railway stations to learn martial arts and master them, two young girls who have designed an app to keep their city safe, and lastly, a coder who has designed a device to monitor health stats of pregnant women in villages devoid of medical facilities.
The film climaxes with the narrator saying that it’s not just a story of inspiring people. It’s the story of how India inspires India.
