Description

Women in Brazil are the majority of the population, the majority in universities, and are present in all possible job positions, even the presidency. They also have a global praise: the International Women’s Day. So how can Globo, the second largest TV network in the world and the absolute leader in Brazil, honor them?

Execution

On March 8th, women occupy the network’s entire lineup, in a programming fully made by them.

It all started with TV spots explaining what would happen.

From the first moments of the day, the talk was all about women, by women. In sports, entertainment, special reports, telenovelas, shows, the entire time, meaning that women meant a lot for us, meaning that they are the soul of Globo`s brand.

All of the news shows were presented by Globo’s female journalists, including Jornal Nacional, its highest ratings show, which for the first time in 45 years had two women as hosts. It produced the year’s largest ratings on a Saturday.

All Globo’s 160 local news cast all over Brazil were hosted by women. Over 280 pieces and 45 special programs about women were produced.

Outcome

Over 15 million people impacted by a single post of one of the network’s main anchors talking about her story.

And content on Facebook had an interaction 806% larger than the previous Saturday.

Engagement was huge, and even UN Women has talked about it.

International Women’s Day at Globo was more than just a special day.

It was actually Women’s.
