Description
We created a platform to promote these professionals that are not seen in the work market: they are the Invisible Talents. The idea was to show their CVs to open professional opportunities for them in different companies. By presenting their qualifications, that are above the fact that they are refugees. And, as such, we wanted to change society’s perception of them. Making clear that before being refugees they are doctors, business administrators, teachers, translators, and, above all, people like we are.
Execution
First, we created a profile in LinkedIn: Invisible Talents (Talentos Invisiveis). We treated it as if it were a Company Page, placing all the refugees that needed job opportunities. Invisible Talents gathered qualified and skilled professionals to be hired by companies.
Then, coaches and LinkedIn influencers recommended and endorsed our Invisible Talents. To reinforce the page, we also spread the CVs in the streets in specific points and on specialized media. The pieces showed the project’s website driving interested people to the LinkedIn page. In social networks, we drew the society’s attention to the issue. We started a debate and questioned the way one normally views a refugee. After all, they don’t need pity, they need recognition.
Outcome
In the work market, Invisible Talents broke a barrier in companies and triggered invitation for job opportunities. The dispute for jobs became fairer but, most importantly, these refugees were seen as they must: legal citizens that have potential to contribute to our society.
