In the year where MOBO was celebrating its 20th anniversary and expanding its remit to the creative arts, not just music, we wanted to make a bigger statement about the impact of MOBO on successful artists of today and, in turn, the influence of those artists on the next generation of up and coming talent. We wanted the MOBO strap line "Paving the Way" to hold a more literal meaning by creating a lasting, permanent reminder to young aspiring artists that they could make it. This took the form of paving stones to commemorate successful artists who have paved the way for generations to become the celebrated artists they are today.
We worked with youth organisation Commercial Break to create the brand new Paving The Way Award, paying tribute to outstanding contribution to diversity in the arts
