Description
The Khap Panchayat (Kangaroo Court) is a council of men that still exists and rules over the state of Haryana in India. It is an evil that treats women like they were born only for reproducing.
So we depicted the true story of Geeta Phogat, a girl from the very same state, and challenged this medieval mentality.
The campaign made the whole country speak up. And silenced the voice of Khap Panchayats.
Execution
We did a lot of research about women achievers from the state of Haryana and decided to showcase the story of unbelievable grit and determination of Geeta Phogat.
The campaign ran for approximately 3 months. But the impact of the campaign is still being felt. We received millions of tweets and posts on social media supporting our stance. Not only that, we received letters of appreciation from some of the top corporate honchos and famous civil society members and activists. And above all, we received a note of appreciation from the Prime Minister's office.
Outcome
The campaign brought to focus the evils of Khap Panchayats and made the whole country agitate against the mentality that considers women to be inferior to men.
Over 7,00,000 people spoke up against the evils of Khap Panchayats and saluted the steely resolve of Geeta Phogat on social media.
The brand conversation spiked up multi-fold the very same day of the release of the campaign and made up almost 20% of all conversations about inspiring women.
Plus, during the campaign, conversations around women emancipation spiked up on social media and they were mostly signed off with the #WillOfSteel hashtag.
Also, we received letters from the public, social organisations and even corporates, praising our campaign and the effort.
And above all, a note of appreciation from the Prime Minister's office.
