Description
In this film, we see musician Kawehi—a one-woman orchestra—use technology to create a digitally-fueled modern symphony.
Kawehi shares her background as a musician, explaining how she uses looping technology to create the sound of an entire band behind her vocals. We watch as she records an original, layered track of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, re-mixed with the iconic “bong” mnemonic of the company—using the company’s technology to fuel her entire performance.
Execution
Beethoven Symphony No. 5 was written in C minor, the Intel Mnemonic in C#. Our Symphony in Blue was orchestrated a 1/2 step higher to the key of C# minor, to retain the integrity and needs of the Intel brand. We shared our longest arrangement of Symphony in Blue with Kawehi along with general tempo and key stipulations. Beyond that, we gave her complete creative freedom to craft a :60 electronic-based interpretation of Symphony in Blue using her vocals, beatboxing, loops and samples.
In addition to her standalone piece, Kawehi provided us with stems to give us flexibility to infuse her derivative work within “Symphony in Blue” — the result is the soundtrack for Intel's Anthem spot as well as the Kawehi Experience Video. This marriage of concepts and execution further establishes Intel’s identity and sonic fabric as timeless and forward-leaning as the elements that built this launch soundtrack.
Outcome
With minimal online paid support behind it, the film has generated almost one million youtube views and viewership continues to grow. The video has also generated a lot of positive feedback, particularly for women in music across Intel's owned social channels
