Background

There can scarcely be a street in the UK that doesn’t feature at least one KFC imitator on it. And these restaurants don’t wear their influence lightly - they openly copy KFC’s name, graphics, slogans and menu. Copying the quality of the chicken is another matter, of course...

Execution

In the ad we see Colonel Sanders roll through the streets of Chicken Town, where he passes a range of imposters; inferior chicken shops that may have copied KFC’s name, but will never be able to match the chicken. This was accompanied by Nina Rota’s iconic and lush Love Theme from The Godfather. A piece of music that not only heightened, and added a subtle menace to the beautiful, rain-flecked streets, but also served a serious communicative purpose in deftly establishing the Colonel as the poultry OG; The Godfather of wings, fillets and all things fried chicken.
