OVERVIEW

Description

The show in Las Vegas, “KABUKI LION SHI-SHI-O”, was a fusion of traditional Kabuki and cutting-edge technologies. Using Immersive Telepresence technology “Kirari!”, not only visual and sounds but also the entire 360 theater space of Las Vegas show was transported to Japan – the modern Kabuki show so exciting as never seen before was transported over the distance of 9,000 km and perfectly recreated, including the excitement felt at the venue.

Execution

TOKYO/ The audience watched the show through nine 4K multi displays in Tokyo. The show was transported from Las Vegas to Tokyo using “Synchronous media transport” technology, which allows multiple visual and sound intensity and positions transmitted and then recreated according to the environment at the remote destination. The audience experienced fully immersive show of the Kabuki actors’ dynamic acts 9,000 km away, as if there were actually at the venue.

KUMAMOTO/ In Kumamoto, the past Las Vegas performance was recreated using “Kirari!” technology. The audience experienced ultra-realistic visuals that feels as if the performance is running here and now thanks to technologies such as “Real-time image extraction for any background” that enables to display the person in the video in super realistic way, “Super-wide video stitching” that allows to merge multiple 4K images to recreate 360 degrees of the performance venue in real time, and “Wave Field Synthesis” which enables highly dynamic three dimensional sound space.

Outcome

We successfully presented traditional Japanese performing art as a completely novel entertainment by leveraging innovative technologies.

We enabled a next-generation appreciation method which makes it possible to enjoy super immersive and realistic Kabuki show anywhere on the earth.
