Description
The historical sign of the Spital vineyard has been re-interpreted and defined as one of two additional key visuals: The original form of the double cross has been replaced by 6 circles and a half-circle. On one hand it reflects the history of the company and on the other hand communicates a distinct new beginning. A semaphore character is the second key visual, showing one letter respectively from the semaphore alphabet and referring with a wink to the first, smaller vineyard (Hagnau, previously known as the estate on the lake) and to the position on the lake in general.
Execution
Both key visuals, which are incorporated into the CD, will be on all wine labels, and will be applied very differently in each case: Both the „semaphore character“ as well as the Spital cross, which incorporates abstract forms of the sun, symbolise in different combinations and size graduation on the different wines the respective speciality of the grape variety. Reference will be made to subtly applied refinements (embossing, silver and gold foil…) on the detailed layout of the wines. White wines basically have the logotype and key visual in yellow, while red wines have the red setting.
Outcome
The numerous possibilities that emerge from the variable application of a solid brand name and two additional key visuals form an image that not only captures the historical facts, it provides a distinct view into the future, establishing a solid brand as well as providing the chance to portray the delicate changes in the product and as such rendering the product the number 1 brand ambassador. With the introduction of this new image the new wines have almost sold out up to the middle of 2016.
