Description
Linkwood is a special release Speyside single malt scotch whisky, bottled at natural cask strength. Diageo’s Linkwood was released as a range of three, each matured either in red wine, port or sherry casks.
Execution
The design took its cues from the special location of the original Linkwood distillery. A generation of swans still glide across the “linkwood” distillery pond, where a timeless calm pervades the air around the old warehouses. Linkwood uses exact replicas of the original large stills to preserve every nuance of its delicate character. Each pack’s colour representing the type of barrel finish. The typography is inspired by the distillery’s original character and set in metal to give it authenticity. Specially commissioned engraved illustrations of the swans enhance provenance and appear in different modes of flight throughout the packaging.
Outcome
At £250 a bottle, Linkwood was completely sold out before it was released.
