Description
LX Celsius is a weather forecast app based in an iconic element of Lisbon’s cityscape: the clothesline.
Depending on the weather for the day, we see a different photograph. On a rainy day we may see the photograph of an empty clothesline or one preemptively covered in a plastic sheet. On a windy day, maybe the clothes are coiled around the lines, while once the sun shines we may be shown a clothesline packed with the dripping clothes of a whole family.
But there’s more. It also suggests what-to-do-today, matching the perfect activities for the day’s weather – from public gardens to museums.
Execution
We photographed over 800 pictures of the most beautiful clotheslines from north to south Lisbon. We also gathered over 170 new places for tourists and even locals, and over 50 sounds that perfectly reproduce Lisbon's atmosphere. LX Celsius is available for download on the App Store on soon on the Google Play.
Outcome
Driven by broad national and international media coverage, we’ve reached more than 500 downloads only in the launch week. And counting keeps going up. Under an extremely low budget, our goal was to depart from commonplace city tour guides and online tips and create something that could share Lisbon’s spirit in a unique way, while also serving a practical purpose that would affect the way people enjoyed the city.
