Description

Set to a folk song, which says that “ A man must go to work leaving behind all the worldly trappings”, this film is a story of a boatman who is rowing his boat full of chairs to another town to sell. On the way an old man waves to the boatman but the boatman declines to give him a ride, as there is no extra space on the boat. But when the boatman realizes that it was actually a pretty village girl who needed the ride, he brings his boat to a stop. The thought of such a pretty girl sitting in his boat makes him kick away some of the chairs into the river in order to make room for her. Just as he begins to look forward to a romantic ride with her, the girl points out that she needs to take her goat along. Eager to take the girl on a boat ride, the boatman kicks away some more chairs into the river and makes space for the goat too. The girl then points out that the only thing left was her bundle of haystack. Desperate by now, the boatman kicks away all his chairs into the water. As the boat finally travels with the happy boatman, his pretty girl, the girls goat and the goats haystack, we see all the chairs under water getting dragged along by the boat.
