OVERVIEW

Description

The track is a remix from their Farewell, Starlite! Album that features Chance The Rapper crooning tenderly to his daughter. The artistic music video is shot in a vast, barren space with a white dance floor. The continuous one shot approach leads with the hypnotizing flow of the stylized and sometimes subtle movements.

Execution

The artistic music video is shot in a vast, barren space with a white dance floor. The continuous approach leads with the hypnotizing flow of the stylized and sometimes subtle movements. Emphasis is intentionally placed on the lyrics where the sharpest choreography takes place. With the distilled white stage against a black backdrop, the focus remains concentrated on the artist and song alone. This creative decision makes logical sense given the seriousness, hearfelt nature of the piece.

Outcome

The music video crested 8M views on YouTube, arresting attention from both fans of Francis & The Lights and Chance the Rapper. Called the "official video sequal" to "Friends" by entertainment news outlets including Billboard, the film was heralded as "intimate," and in press Francis and Chance admitted that the song was about marriage and the love shared between two individuals alone.
