Description
The Central Train Station in Warsaw is not the most exciting place: trains are delayed, people are waiting, hanging around senselessly. Our task was to attract passengers to McDonald’s restaurant located nearby the station and let them spend more time there. But there was something more. We wanted to do something about the boring station.
Execution
We programmed a special timetable that displays real-time train information and something extra: waiting time not in minutes but in hamburgers, cokes and fries you manage to eat at McDonald’s before your train leaves. It also finds delays. The longer you wait, the more menu items on the screen. It was installed on the way to McDonald's store. The Hamburger Timetable was quickly filmed and reached millions of people through all channels: YouTube, web portals, TV, press and radio.
Outcome
Passengers loved the timetable immediately. It attracted 4,500 extra customers within just a month of the installation. Over 9.5m people have seen the timetable on TV, radio, press, YouTube, major sites and portals. And most of all: McDonald’s made waiting at the station slightly more pleasant.
