The idea was to reach the target group – municipal fleet managers and purchasers – at the workplace. And not only once, but with several contacts. Since the target group uses a computer at their workplace everyday, we choose to create an unusual digital promotion. We designed and programmed a small computer application: every time the user empties the recycle bin on his or her computer desktop, a small refuse collection vehicle from Mercedes-Benz appears and picks up the “trash”. The application could be downloaded from the Mercedes-Benz website and sent to friends via a link.

Outcome

The application has already been downloaded over 4,500 times. At the same time orders for the refuse collection vehicle brochures increased rapidly. Mercedes-Benz also received many emails with compliments for the application. Customers said they where really happy with the device and that they would use it as often as possible, just to see the small vehicle drive across their computer desktop.
