Background
Every year, Victoria Beer, celebrates the Day of the Dead; and this year they spoke about Mictlán, the underworld of the Aztecs divided into 9 regions. In 2018, Mexico was a fashion reference worldwide and the talent of many Mexican designers is highly recognized.
Travel to the Mictlán represents one of the most popular Mexican traditions, death. The legend says that those who died from natural cause where the only ones traveling to Mictlán, no matter gender or wealth. The only way to reach peace on their spirits inside that place was to go through 9 regions of the underground.
Idea
We decided to take advantage of all the Mexican talent and invited 11 designers to make the first line of clothing and jewelry in honor of Mictlán. 9 clothing designers were responsible for making 18 pieces, and 2 jewelery designers created 10 different models. Each piece represented a region of the 9 that the Aztecs had to cross to find eternal rest in the Mictlán. The fashion designers that participated were: Ocelote, Marika Vera, Cynthia Buttenklepper, Karla Luna, Carla Fernandez, No Name, Jesús de la Garsa, Yakampot and Malafacha. The jewelry designers were: Hugo Rosellón and Angela Téllez.

A runway was created with Mexican fashion style in which the designs from Mictlán where represented by models customized as Catrinas that wore our special edition jewelry.
