Johansson and Jost are a married couple who had never appeared on film together before. As such, they were extremely conscious about how they would be perceived in the end product. This could have been very difficult but the director quickly put them at ease and had them eating out of the palm of his hand (and making fools of themselves) by the end of the shoot. He also had the added challenge that the Head Writer of SNL (Jost) was inputting into the script live on set. This posed unforeseen challenges on an already extremely tight shoot schedule that the director managed to incorporate and direct to great effect with no notice.
