Toronto-based ad agency Taxi had a new campaign idea for BMW's re-vamped Mini Cooper. They went to director Bruce Alcock from Global Mechanic, the Vancouver-based mixed media production company specializing in design and innovative techniques. Equally conversant in commercial production and independent film, Global Mechanic was the perfect choice to riff on Taxi's print campaign featuring a photocopied close-up of an exhilarated driver.Global Mechanic, who animated and produced "Pavement", and Pirate Radio & TV, who did the sound work, took what was suggested in the print ad and gave it velocity, speed and direction.
